Here’s a recent shot I took of my reflection in the mirror. I have this blue sweatshirt and red bag which I thought added some nice color to the photo. It was a beautiful day in Japan and I enjoyed takings some street shots that day. The Photo was post precessed in Photoshop CS5 with some touches of Grunge.

Someone elected to paint this lantern green and write their own message. It’s kind of rare to see this sort of "artistic" lantern as most are generic in some fashion. I thought it was fun and different as lanterns go in Japan.

Sunflower Trio is perhaps my favorite photo thus far of all my sunflower shots. It captures everything that surrounds these wonderful flowers even the little bee you can see in front of the third flower on the right. They can be tricky to photograph in groups like this which is why I like this one very much. They all seemed to behave and pose for the photo which was cool to see. Thanks guys!

Light by Design showcases the lighting effects that can be found lanterns as a result of the sun casting shadows. I took many photos like this and found some really terrific light design. I thought it provided an added touch to the photography.

Tanbo Rice Field Japan

The word tanbo means rice paddy in Japanese. This is my father-in-law’s tanbo located in Nagano-city Japan. It is quite large and together we plant and harvest the rice crop each year. It’s a lot of work, but very rewarding and the fresh rice is fantastic! You can check out more videos from Japan on my Jim Atwood in Japan YouTube Channel.

The focusing was done manually here using the Nikon 105 VR Macro Lens. The green and bronze tones really make for a cool and grungy contrast.

I love these Summertime Kakigori flags. They are quite colorful not to mention that I love eating Kakirgori, especially the strawberry flavor. Great stuff to keep you cool during the hot humid summers in Japan. Kakig?ri is a popular Japanese dessert or snack made from shaved ice flavored with syrup that is most enjoyed during the hot summer months.
